Challenge Journey – Food Tour Da Nang is a journey that invites you into a Da Nang that is both gentle and vibrant, where the rhythm of the sea blends with urban life and cuisine becomes the bridge connecting people to the sun-and-wind land of Central Vietnam. This is a place where food is not only meant to be enjoyed, but to create balance: light yet flavorful, simple yet refined, providing just enough energy for days filled with movement and discovery. Da Nang does not attract with noise or excess, but with a sense of ease and openness — from a bowl of morning mì Quảng, to the Han River glowing at night, to the moment your body fully relaxes in the warm mineral waters of Nui Than Tai Hot Springs. In this journey, cuisine is the way you touch the spirit of the city; what remains is a feeling of physical ease, a perfectly paced rhythm of travel, and the lingering coastal flavors that stay with you long after you leave.
The Gamified Taste – Emotion Journey in Da Nang is designed as a multi-sensory exploration where players not only visit famous destinations or enjoy local specialties, but also actively interact with the city through social connection, body awareness, and personal emotional reflection. From the vibrant urban center to the peaceful beach and mountain landscapes, each stop and each dish is arranged in sequence to gradually expand taste perception, enhance energy levels, and deepen the connection with Da Nang. As players complete all locations and culinary challenges, their Energy Bar fills up, badges are unlocked, and a personal emotional map gradually takes shape.
Players activate the journey at APEC Park. After opening the digital map, the system displays a personal “Energy Bar.” Each completed mission fills up this bar and unlocks corresponding badges.
The opening mission requires players to approach a stranger and ask: “What do you like most about Da Nang?”, then record the answer in 20 words. This step activates a sense of connection with the city.
Mission reward: +10 Energy Points and the “Connection Starter” badge.
Dish: Mi Quang
Players join the Blind Taste Mini Game: close their eyes for 10 seconds before eating, identify three layers of flavor, and rate their energy level after eating on a scale from 1 to 10. The unlock question requires analyzing the role of peanuts or sesame rice crackers in the dish’s structure.
Next, players walk along the Han River, count the number of people exercising within 2 minutes, and compare the pace of life with another city.
Mission reward: +20 Energy Points, unlock the “Central Rhythm Badge,” and gain +5% taste sensitivity.
Dish: Da Nang Chicken Rice
Players taste each component separately, then combine them to analyze flavor balance. They also answer questions about intensity and the culinary identity of the dish. At Son Tra, the challenge requires standing still for 3 minutes without using a phone, then describing the city in three words.
Mission reward: +25 Energy Points, unlock Level 2 – “Mind Expansion,” and activate the “Memory Quote” saving feature on the personal profile.
Dish: My Khe Seafood
Players participate in the Minimalism Challenge: do not add extra sauce, identify the natural sweetness, and evaluate freshness using only taste. Then record bodily changes when transitioning from the urban environment to the beach.
Mission reward: +20 Energy Points and the “Natural Taste Guardian” badge.
Dish: Da Nang Banh Mi
Players eat while walking lightly, identify which ingredient creates the fastest feeling of fullness, and predict the step level that will cause fatigue while climbing the mountain. They then compare their prediction with reality.
Mission reward: +20 Energy Points and unlock the “Body Awareness” index.
Dish: Bun Cha Ca
Players conduct a Before & After Scan while soaking in the hot springs and analyze the energy recovery factors from Bun Cha Ca.
Mission reward: +25 Energy Points and the “Energy Recovery Master” badge.
Dish: Rice Paper Rolls with Pork
Players roll two versions: one with full vegetables and one with 50% fewer vegetables. They compare structure, balance, and aftertaste. The mini game requires them to rate the dish’s authenticity if fermented anchovy sauce is replaced with regular fish sauce.
Mission reward: +20 Energy Points and unlock “Creative Taste Mode.”
Dish: Salt Coffee
Players complete the 3 Layer Test, record the order of flavor layers, and choose their favorite layer. They also select one specialty dish that best represents the journey and explain why.
Mission reward: +20 Energy Points and the “Flavor Analyst” badge.
Dish: Bun Mam Nem
Players eat slowly, measure how long the aftertaste lasts, and compare it with the first dish of the journey. The final question requires defining Da Nang using a single “taste.”
Final mission reward: +30 Energy Points and unlock the summary report.
After visiting every destination and experiencing all the dishes throughout the journey, the system calculates total Energy Points, average taste score, and emotional changes across the experience. The Taste – Emotion Report highlights the most impressive dish, the space that created the most significant emotional shift, and the player’s average energy level. By the end of the journey, Da Nang is no longer just a travel destination, but a complete sensory experience remembered through taste, movement, and personal transformation.
